Safer off-shore oil production

Off the coast of Brazil, sea platforms are at work extracting oil from far below the ocean floor. The oil extraction process generates foam, which must be controlled for safe operation and efficiency. Silicone antifoams are a popular solution.

In the past, operators needed to disperse the silicone fluid into a flammable solvent, introducing risk for the operators handling the solvent in unpredictable offshore conditions. A new ready-to-use antifoam formulation, delivered at the right concentration, eliminates use of the flammable solvent and enhances safety for operators involved in the offshore oil production. It also benefits the environment by reducing product waste and disposal.
